About this speaker

Tim Lang is Professor Emeritus of Food Policy at City University of London’s Centre for Food Policy. With a Phd in Social Psychology, and then experience hill farming in the North of England in the 1970s, his attention turned to how food policy mediates the relationship between health, environment, economy and society. He set up the Centre for Food Policy in 1994 as an inter-disciplinary research and education body specializing in exploring the public interest. He has been an advisor and consultant to many public bodies at UN, EU and national levels. He’s a London Food Board member advising the Mayor of London. He was policy lead on the EAT-Lancet Commission’s 2019 Food in the Anthropocene report and is Senior Advisor to the Food Research Collaboration linking academia with civil society. His books include Feeding Britain (Pelican pb 2021), Sustainable Diets (Routledge 2017), Food Wars (2nd ed 2015).
