Overview
On 27 May 2022, WHO Member States approved the new WHO Global Strategy for Food Safety 2022-2030.
With a vision to ensure safe and healthy people for all, everywhere, this updated strategy aims to guide and support Member States in their efforts to prioritize, plan, implement, monitor and regularly evaluate actions towards reducing the burden of foodborne diseases by continuously strengthening food safety systems and promoting global cooperation
The WHO Global Strategy for Food Safety includes five interlinked and mutually supportive strategic priorities. And for the first time ever, WHO Member States are also committing to work and fund efforts towards achieving three global targets to reduce foodborne diarhrroea, improve surveillance and streghten collaboration.
This plenary will discuss the importance of having a global strategy to strengthen food safety systems and how countries are ready to reflect the strategy in their food safety work.
